Step By Step Cooking For Recipe Gujarati Dal With Imeges
First of all we will take 1 cup of toor dal and put it in a bowl and wash it well with 2-3 waters. Remember to wash it well otherwise it will remain like silk threads, so wash it well with 2-3 waters.
After washing the dal well, now we will add 3 cups of water to it and cover it and keep it for 15 minutes so that it swells a little and the aroma of toor dal comes out.
Now we will put 2 tablaspanu tamarind in a bowl and add hot water to it, mix it with your hand and cover it and leave it.
Now we will put a pressure cooker on the gas to prepare the dal which we had soaked in water till then.
Now we will add dal to it and add salt to it as per the taste. We still need salt further, so we are adding only a little salt.
Now we will add half a teaspoon of turmeric powder to it and also salt more than the dal we have taken. We will add 3 times water and also add 2 tablespoons of peanuts in a bowl of a steel pot so that both of them get steamed together and we save some time.
When our cooker gives 4-5 whistles, we have to check it once whether our dal has been cooked properly or not. If even after 4-5 whistles, the dal has not cooked completely, then we have to add 2 more whistles so that our dal cooks well.
Now after 2 whistles, we will check. First of all, we will open the lid of our cooker and first of all, take out the water that we had kept in the bowl of the steel. After that, we will check whether our dal has cooked. So our dal has cooked completely.
Now, with the help of a mixer, we will mix this dal and make its juice.
Now, we will mix the tamarind that we had kept in water, and filter it with the help of a sieve. The thickness should be more. If yes, then dilute it by adding some water
Now, to temper the dal, we will heat a pan on the gas again. After the pan is heated, add 2 tablespoons of ghee to it. After the ghee melts a little, add half a teaspoon of mustard seeds, half a teaspoon of cumin seeds, 1/2 cinnamon stick, 3 to 4 cloves, 2 b broken red chillies to temper it. Then add some fenugreek seeds and half a teaspoon of asafoetida powder, 15 curry leaves and 1 teaspoon ginger-chili paste. Mix everything and cook for 2 minutes.
After it is cooked for 2 minutes, chop 1 medium-sized tomato and add it. Add some salt and cook until the tomato melts completely.
When the tomato melts completely, add 1/4 tablespoon of turmeric powder and Add 1/4 tablespoon Kashmiri red chilli powder and mix everything. After mixing everything, add the dal mixture or juice that we had prepared and mix it. If our dal is thick, then add some hot water to it.
And cook it for 2 minutes. After it is cooked for 2 minutes, add 2 spoons of the tamarind that we had strained and also add 1 tablespoon of jaggery. Lastly, add the strained peanuts and cook everything for 7 minutes.
After cooking for 7 minutes, now we will garnish it with chopped coriander. Now our Gujarati dal recipe is ready.
